Foreclosure Home Ownership Program
Note: At this time, program funding is not available for the following City’s affordable housing programs
Although these affordable housing programs are not available at this time, the City Housing Division has established an Interest List. Should you wish to be notified when program funds become available, please complete the City of Perris Housing Division Interest List Form and submit to the City Housing Division.
The Housing Division is “Turning Houses into Homes” through the Foreclosure Homeownership Program (FHP), which was approved in December 2008. The Housing Division has partnered with Community Preservation Partners and La Barge Industries to purchase foreclosed homes within the City of Perris city limits, rehab, and sell to low and moderate income buyers. The goal of the program is to turn dilapidated houses into desirable and livable homes, stabilize and enhance neighborhoods, improve property values, preserve affordable housing, and provide homeownership opportunities.
To be eligible for the program, buyers must meet the following criteria:
- Buyers must be first-time homebuyers or persons who have not held ownership interest within the past three (3) years;
- Buyers must meet 2011 HUD income limits (up to 120% of area median income for Riverside County);
- Buyers must be qualified by a City-approved Lender; and
- Buyers must complete an 8-hour HUD-approved, homebuyer education certificate program.
It is the intent of the Agency to sell these renovated properties to first qualified homebuyers.
