Registration to enter for the 21st Annual Perris Christmas Parade has been extended to Tuesday, Dec. 7.

The holiday celebration begins at 10 a.m. Dec. 12 along a route that travels on Perris Boulevard from Perris High School to near the City Hall Campus.

Each year, thousands of people line the route in anticipation of seeing one of the dozens of floats, marching bands, equestrian units, classic cars and military drill units that take part. Last year’s parade drew more than 70 entries.

An elephant from the famous Have Trunk Will Travel, a refuge for the endangered species, will walk the parade route.

Santa Claus also will be on hand.

City Clerk Judy Haughney and City Councilman Al Landers will once again announce the parade.

“The City of Perris takes pride in its community celebrations and this parade is one of our signature events,” Landers said.

“I encourage everyone to come out and take in the fun.”
People interested in participating in the upcoming parade are asked to contact the Perris Community Services Department at 951-943-6603.

Applications, signed waivers and the $10 entry fee must be submitted by Dec. 7.

The parade will travel south on Perris Boulevard from Perris High School. The judging stand will be located on Perris Boulevard in front of the Cesar Chavez Library.

Parking will not be allowed on the parade route. However, parking will be permitted in the Civic Center parking lot, the Foss Field Park parking lot as well as streets adjoining the parade route.

Following the conclusion of the parade, expected from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., trophies will be awarded in the Bob Glass Gymnasium, 101 North “D” Street.

Children wishing to visit Santa are asked to go to Library Community Room after the parade.
