Historic D Street will be closed between San Jacinto and Second Street beginning Monday (April 19) while the City begins installing the final layer of blacktop on the Downtown thoroughfare.

Businesses in the affected section of D Street will remain open and detour signs have been placed around the construction zone to help vehicle traffic navigate the area. Work is expected to be completed within four to seven days.
D Street is expected to reopen between April 23 and April 26.

Construction crews have been working along D Street installing new pavement and landscaping as part of the Perris Gateway Project. Those improvements also include landscaping, pavers, roadway paving, benches, decorative street signs and new traffic signals.

When completed, the Gateway Project will completely remake D Street from the off-ramp to Highway 215 to 4th Street.
