Perris Establishes the Brad Eckhardt Memorial Scholarship

The City of Perris has established a memorial scholarship in the name of former Planning Manager, Brad Eckhardt, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on July 4. 

Contributions will be collected by the City and forwarded to the Inland Empire Section American Planning Association Student Scholarship Award.  The award is granted annually to college students who are interested in pursuing an urban planning degree.

Mr. Eckhardt worked for the City since 2002, and in 2007 became Planning Manager.

Previously, he had worked for the City of Mountain View in Northern California. Throughout his career of more than 20 years, Mr. Eckhardt was a member of the American Planning Association.  He received two APA awards during his tenure in the City of Mountain View.  Since moving to Perris, he and his team won four additional APA awards.

Those include one award in 2008 for the Sustainability Element of the Perris General Plan and three awards in 2010 for commitment to green development, restoration of the 1918 Bank of Perris and the 1892 Depot Building and for developing the City’s Commercial Façade Improvement Program for D Street.
