Perris Famer's Market Closed for the Winter

A bounty of fruits and vegetables awaited people who took advantage of the City’s Farmers Market.

The hugely successful Perris Farmers Market, which was credited with attracting dozens of vendors and thousands of shoppers to the historic Downtown commercial district, has closed for the winter.

The Farmers Fair is scheduled to reopen in April.
“For our first round, we’re pretty darned pleased with the way things turned out,” said Michael McDermott, the City’s

Redevelopment and Economic Development Manager. “Things will be bigger and better next year. We had always planned to shut down during the rainy winter season. We definitely will continue in the spring.”

McDermott said ongoing renovations are underway along D Street between San Jacinto Avenue and Fourth Street where the Farmers Market took place. Those include a new facade to the La Playita Building and parking lot upgrades to other locations where the Farmers Market takes place.

The Farmers Market proved a huge success from its opening Thursday in May. The weekly venue regularly drew more than 1,000 shoppers to D Street where they could purchase an assortment of locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Food, clothing and novelty vendors provided a host of other buying options. Visitors said they were exceptionally pleased with the results and praised the City Council and staff for bringing the event to Downtown Perris.
