The City of Perris is hosting its annual Housing Expo and first-time homebuyer workshop Saturday, June 20, at the Bob Glass Gymnasium.
The free events provide valuable information to first-time homebuyers as well as prospective homeowners.
The home expo, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the gymnasium, puts buyers in touch with lenders, brokers, realtors, home improvement contractors and offers instruction in foreclosure prevention and other issues facing homebuyers.
“It puts all the experts under one roof,” said event coordinator Sara Cortes-dePavon. “It’s a great opportunity for one-stop shopping.”
The homebuyer workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be held in the Community Room of the gymnasium.
It includes information on topics on down-payment assistance, saving for an initial deposit, how to budget to ensure making mortgage payments promptly, and the need for financial stability before deciding to make a home purchase.
Cortes-dePavon said the City’s housing expo and first-time homebuyer workshop last year drew 200 people and a similar number is expected this year.
“We are receiving a lot of calls seeking information about down-payment assistance,” she said.
People interested in attending the homebuyer workshop are asked to register through nhsie.org (Neighborhood Housing Services of the Inland Empire) or by calling 909-884-6891. Additional Information about both events is available by contacting Cortes-dePavon at 951-943-5003, ext. 254.
