The Perris Housing Authority is sponsoring its annual “First Time Home Buyer Workshop” Saturday (April 9) at the Perris Senior Center, 100 North D Street.
The workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is free to attend.
Program Manager Rebecca Miranda said participants will have the opportunity to meet with an approved lender and become pre-qualified to own a residence in the City. She said 20 potential buyers already have made reservations to attend.
“This is a program that is in demand,” Miranda said. “People are starting to have more confidence in the economy and are taking the opportunity to learn how to become homeowners in Perris.”
Prospective home owners should bring the following documents to Saturday’s workshop:
- A current California identification
- Tax returns from the previous three years for all adults in the household
- W-2 forms for all adults in the household
- One month current paycheck stubs for all adults in the household
- Three months bank statements from all sources for all adults in the household
To take advantage of the first-time homebuyers programs, participants must purchase property within the Perris city limits, have at least 1 percent of the purchase price for a down payment and meet Riverside County area income limits, which range from $34,800 for a single person to $65,650 for a family of eight. A first-time homebuyer is considered someone who has not owned a home in the last three years.
Deadline to register for the upcoming home-buying workshop is Thursday, April 7, at 5 p.m. More information is available at 951.435.7220.
