Citrus Hill High School principal Nereyda is all smiles as the Perris City Council presents a plaque honoring the football squad for capturing the Division 2-A crown in December.

The City of Perris honored the Citrus Hill High School football Hawks team for winning its first-ever state championship. The Hawks captured the Division 2-A crown with a come-from-behind 23-20 victory over Mountain View Saint Francis. Coach Eric Zomalt, Citrus Hill principal Nereyda Gonzalez and 10 members of the football team appeared at the April 12 City Council meeting to accept a Proclamation from City Councilman Mark Yarbrough and Mayor Pro-Tem Rita Rogers.
