Cooking up a Healthy Snack

Chef Lee Burton used items grown in the City of Perris’ community garden to whip up a health salad recently for members of the Boys & Girls Club of Perris. Burton mixed onions, zucchini, corn and oregano to make the nutritious salad.

The community garden, known officially as the Perris Green City Farm Program, features a variety of innovative growing techniques that increase yield while reducing irrigation. The City of Perris has partnered with a variety of agencies and individuals on the project, which continues its award-winning Live Well Perris healthy eating active outreach.
