Improvements to the Interstate 215 interchange at Nuevo Road are expected to be completed by early April 2017.
Construction upgrades include concrete, curbs and gutters and grind and overlay work on both the northbound and southbound lanes of the freeway at Nuevo, a major intersection in the central part of Perris. Other improvements include installations of new traffic signals and decorative bridgework.
The next freeway closure will take place Thursday (Feb. 9) for construction along the southbound on-ramp. Signs alerting motorists to the closure will be posted along the freeway and major streets leading to and from the Nuevo Road interchange. The work begins at 10 p.m. Thursday and will be completed by 6 a.m. Friday.
In addition, the southbound ramp at I-215 will be closed for two days between Feb. 20 and Feb. 24. The northbound ramp is scheduled to be shut down for five days, from Feb. 20-24. Construction on the northbound ramp, however, will not be completely finished until March 10.
Following completion of the interchange improvements, construction will begin on the Nuevo Road median. The work includes construction of a raised median with a rock blanket. Those upgrades are scheduled from March 15-31.
Inclement weather or Caltrans-mandated changes may delay completion of the interchange project.
