City of Perris Dives into Summer Aquatics

PERRIS, Calif. (May 21, 2019) –– The City of Perris is diving into summer with the 2019 Summer Aquatics Program launch event on Saturday June 15, 2019 at the community swimming pool at Perris High School.

This kickoff event makes a splash with a “cannon ball” competition with the Sheriff’s department, as well as free open swim, free raffle and free food. The event will be from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and is open from ages 5 and up. Signups for the cannon ball competition are from June 10, 2019 – June 15, 2019 at the Perris High School Pool Deck.

Additionally, in somewhat of a soft open, the full Summer Aquatics Program will open at Perris High School on Monday, June 10, 2019 and run until August 2, 2019.

Cool off on a hot day with fun for everyone at Open Swim! Open Swim is available for all ages and costs $2 per person for a two-hour session. Open Swim is available Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Swim lessons sessions are available from ages six months to 12 years old and will be held Monday through Thursday. However, Saturday swim lessons are also available. The cost is $50 per child with multi-child discounts available. Registration has already begun, so participants are encouraged to sign up online at or by contacting City Hall.

Recreation Supervisor Cynthia Lemus is happy to have the aquatics program back and to teach young children not to fear the water.

“The City of Perris is excited to welcome the summer aquatics programs back for the 2019 summer,” said Lemus. “Swim lessons are such a vital part of childhood and we want to help the children in the community learn about safety in and around the water and ultimately, to be more comfortable in the water.”

Perris High School is located at 175 East Nuevo Road. For more information about all the great summer aquatic events, contact the City at 951-657-7334.
