City of Perris Welcomes Granite Hills TK-8 School to the Community
PERRIS, Calif. (August 15, 2025) – The City of Perris is proud to welcome Granite Hills TK-8 School, a brand-new Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade campus, to our growing educational landscape.
Located at 200 Ethanac Road, the school will open its doors to students on August 14, 2025, marking an exciting milestone in the city’s commitment to fostering innovative, high-quality educational opportunities.
As both a Councilmember for District 4 and a parent, this school opening is deeply personal to Councilmember Malcom Corona.
“I was impressed with how smoothly the first day at Granite Hills TK-8 went,” said Councilmember Malcolm Corona. “Thanks to the hard work of many, including City Public Works for finishing the crosswalks on time and the Sheriff’s Department for keeping everyone safe, opening day was a success. After more than 20 years, South Perris students finally have their own school—and as a parent, I couldn’t be happier.”
Granite Hills TK-8 School is part of the Romoland School District and features state-of-the-art facilities designed to inspire and engage students. The campus includes modern classrooms equipped with 1:1 Chromebook access, flexible learning spaces, and secure perimeter fencing. The school will also launch a 90-10 Dual Language Immersion Program for kindergarten and first grade, giving students the opportunity to develop bilingualism, biliteracy, and cultural understanding from an early age.
“The opening of Granite Hills TK-8 is a tremendous opportunity for our city,” said City Manager Clara Miramontes. “This school embodies the future of education—forward-thinking, inclusive, and rooted in community values. We’re proud to support an environment where all children can thrive and grow.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Granite Hills TK-8 to Perris,” said Mayor Michael M. Vargas. “This school isn’t just a building—it’s a testament to our commitment to investing in our youth, fostering bilingualism, and enriching community engagement. This marks a bright new chapter for education in Perris.”
The school will be led by Principal Mrs. Kait Punzel, who is actively engaging in the community to gather input on their vision for Granite Hills School. “We want Granite Hills to be a reflection of our community’s hopes and values,” said Mrs. Punzel. “The mission and vision of the school will be developed in collaboration with the future staff to align with the shared goals of all stakeholders.”
The campus will serve families from Perris and surrounding communities, offering enrollment opportunities for local residents and limited transfer slots for families from outside the district. Romoland School District officials, city leaders, and community members will host celebratory events and tours as the school year begins.
