Following Cal Fire's statewide update on March 24, 2025, the City of Perris has released the most updated Fire Hazard Severity Maps (FHSZ) for Local Responsibility Areas. The map provided by Cal Fire, utilizes the latest climate data, fire history, topography, and wildfire modeling to classify areas as Very High, High, or Moderate Fire Hazard Zones.

Within 120 days, local governments must adopt the fire hazard designations. A key component of Government code 51178 restricts jurisdictions from downgrading any areas designated by Cal Fire although public comments are accepted and welcomed.
