The “ We are Perris, California” mural was a community engagement project that was developed by the residents of Perris. All the elements that represent this masterpiece are of historical significance to our community members. The landmarks have been preserved and are still standing to this day.

The establishment of the locomotives put Perris on the map by allowing local farmers and merchants to expand their customers base to far away places. The adult individuals that are represented on the top of mural have contributed greatly to establish the City of Perris that we know today, including our City’s namesake Fred T. Perris, the railroad engineer who decided to lay the tracks through this land, known back then as the Town of Pinacate.  The youth portrayed at the bottom of the mural are actual children that have participated in City activities and are active within their communities. They represent our beautifully diverse culture and bright futures.
